Relay for Life

Last night was the Fillmore County Relay for Life. It was a beautiful night for the event. Around sunset they had a special balloon release ceremony. The band played "If I Die Young" by the Band Perry while hundreds of balloons with messages written on them from loved ones were "sent up to heaven". It was moving to see so many people sending messages up to the ones they've loved and lost. I managed to capture a few images of the balloon release and a few other of the luminaries once they were lit.

My heart aches for the people we've all lost too early in life. It was sad and yet comforting to pause for a moment and honor the memory of the ones we miss.

Here are a few images from the evening.

MS Tram Comes to Lanesboro

Over 600 bicylists, their friends and family are now in Lanesboro, MN for the night. They will venture on their way in the morning. Despite downpoors and thunder these folks all made it to town. They are on a mission to rid the world of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) . . . and to get very fit in the process. This first image (with the lady with tiger ears and the group picture) is from the group The Kreb Cycle. Apparently they have raised of $35,000! Congratulations on such tremendous fundraising. Have a safe trip tomorrow.

Hillcrest Hideaway at Night

A couple of nights ago I spent some time with Marv & Carol, owners of Hillcrest Hideaway in Lanesboro, Minnesota getting some gorgeous night shots of their Bed & Breakfast. I love the process of lighting a house and then waiting for that perfect moment of the evening to get just the right shot. I think this is a great way to showcase the warmth of a property.

Model T's come to Lanesboro

The Model T Ford Club International came to Lanesboro, Minnesota today. It was really something to see. Right around 250 Model T's were in town. It was very neat to be able to see the great variety of vehicles and the care that has been put into the restoration of many of them. Thanks for coming to town! This just isn't something you see every day. It was hard to pick and choose, but here are the photos I like the best. Enjoy!

Mike & Amy's Engagement Photos

We had a beautiful day last Saturday for taking some engagement photos on Amy's Grandma's farm near Chatfield. Of course it was a million degrees, but otherwise it was gorgeous! Mike and Amy were good sports and I think we got some beautiful images of the couple. It was fun to use Grandma's farm as a backdrop. Here are my very favorite photos from the day.

Summer Vacation

You may have notice that the blog was quiet all last week. That is because our family was off on vacation. We had a simply beautiful week of weather and spent our time lounging by lake, eating way too much food, and being as lazy as humanly possible. What a wonderful way to spend a week. This is probably my favorite picture of the lake from the week. It makes me breath deeper and slows me down just by looking at it. . . If only all summer could be a vacation by the lake.

Family Photos for the Fourth of July

The Himli Family was all dressed in patriotic red, white, and blue for this pre-fourth of July photo shoot. It was a beautiful warm day and I had a lot of fun playing with the kids. Here are a few of my favorites. I think I might like this first one the best. . . the kids were all getting tired so I thought I'd let them have a little fun. "On the count of 3. . . JUMP!" I'm still not quite sure how little Caroline managed to jump quite so high.

God Bless America!

I love our country. I love the freedoms we have. I love the choices we can freely make because of where we live. I love that even if I don't agree with you that you are able to speak your mind. . . and so am I. God Bless America! Here are a few of my favorite fireworks and sparkler pictures from the weekend.

Suzanne & Jerome Engagement Photos

A lot of what I like about Photography is that its playful, see-what-happens nature. This session hit that mark over and over again. Jerome and Suzanne were energetic, playful, and tremendously fun. We hit the pavement down in Lanesboro, MN and just wandered our way around. Along the way we found wonderful treasures. . . a vintage Rolls Royce. . . an old steamer trunk. . .and much more. It was hard to pick my favorites, but I think the pictures below are a good sample of what I liked best about the time I got to spend with the couple. I simply can't wait to see what they have in store for their wedding festivities at the end of the year.
